Course Summary

The Green IT Foundation (GITFF®) Certification, a core part of the DASCIN® Green IT Framework, is an advanced foundational program designed to equip professionals with the applied competency to implement and manage sustainable IT practices across an organization. While it builds on themes introduced at the Green IT Awareness (GITA®) level, the GITFF certification dives significantly deeper into the strategic, operational, and technical dimensions of digital sustainability. It enables participants to move from basic knowledge to applied competence, focusing on how to align IT infrastructure with broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives and regulatory mandates such as CSRD and SECR.

The course is structured to cover both theoretical underpinnings and practical applications across the seven components of the Green IT Framework: Strategy, Hardware, Software, Processes, Practices, Data Storage, and Measurement and Reporting. Participants explore five critical implementation domains in detail, including sustainable hardware procurement, Software Carbon Intensity (SCI), lifecycle management (ITAD), and the optimization of data center efficiency using PUE and WUE metrics. A central focus of the program is the development of a formal nine-element Green IT Strategy, which provides the coherence needed to transform isolated initiatives into a coordinated organizational program.

To ensure verifiable results, candidates master the Green IT Impact Measurement Framework—a rigorous mathematical model—to calculate Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and determine a composite Green IT Impact Score (GIIS). By integrating sustainability into IT governance and institutionalizing the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle, the program empowers professionals to drive long-term, measurable improvements rather than short-term fixes. This certification is ideal for IT managers, ESG officers, and strategic decision-makers aiming to take a leadership role in achieving organizational net-zero goals. Ultimately, GITFF® empowers participants to balance technological advancement with ecological responsibility, reducing an organization’s carbon footprint and contributing to a more sustainable digital future.
