Re-launch GDPR Awareness Credential

February 28, 2025 – The Data Science Institute (DASCIN) has made some exciting new updates to its highly regarded GDPR Awareness Credential. This comprehensive revision reflects the latest developments in data protection laws and offers professionals a streamlined path to understanding and applying GDPR principles effectively. The updates are also included in the exam from APMG International which provides an independent validation that candidates have the latest GDPR skills and knowledge.

As part of the re-launch, DASCIN has introduced a new syllabus and new examinations to ensure that the credential remains at the forefront of the evolving data protection landscape. The updated materials have been carefully designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to navigate the complexities of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Jan-Willem Middelburg, Chief Examiner at DACIN explains the rationale behind the development:

“As the landscape of data privacy continues to evolve, it’s crucial that professionals remain well-informed about the latest changes to regulations such as the GDPR. This re-launch of the GDPR Awareness Credential, with its updated exam and new learning materials, equips professionals to tackle these challenges head-on, especially as emerging technologies like AI reshape how we approach data protection.”

Key Updates to the GDPR Awareness Credential include:

  • The GDPR Handbook: Awareness, Action, Accountability: A comprehensive reference guide has been developed to support candidates. The book, titled The GDPR Handbook: Awareness, Accountability, Action, is now available for purchase and offers in-depth guidance on key GDPR concepts, including best practices for compliance and accountability.
  • New Exam from APMG International: The new exam provides a more dynamic and rigorous assessment of candidates’ understanding of GDPR principles, with an emphasis on practical application in real-world scenarios.
  • New Syllabus: The syllabus has been overhauled to reflect current industry practices and regulatory updates, ensuring it meets the demands of professionals working in data protection, compliance, and related fields.

The updated GRDP Awareness credential is particularly timely, as data privacy continues to grow in importance, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence. As AI technologies increasingly process large volumes of personal data, organizations must ensure they comply with GDPR requirements to safeguard user privacy and mitigate risks. Professionals with up-to-date knowledge of GDPR are in high demand to help businesses navigate these complex challenges.

Richard Pharro, CEO at APMG International, added,

“Data privacy has never been more important. With AI and other new technologies driving the need for stronger privacy frameworks, the renewed GDPR Awareness Credential provides a vital tool for professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of GDPR and its practical applications. We’re thrilled to support DASCIN in bringing this updated credential to market.”

The re-launched GDPR Awareness Credential brings several important updates, including a newly developed exam from APMG International, designed to provide a more dynamic and rigorous assessment of candidates’ understanding of GDPR principles, with a strong focus on practical, real-world applications. The updated syllabus reflects the latest industry practices and regulatory changes, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of professionals in data protection and compliance roles. Additionally, DASCIN has introduced The GDPR Handbook: Awareness, Action, Accountability, a comprehensive reference guide that offers detailed insights into GDPR concepts, best practices for compliance, and strategies for maintaining accountability in data protection.
